About Cook Store
Cook Store occupies what was the hardware section of the original Cook Brothers Store, a general store opened in the late 1800's.
Cook Brothers offered items from overalls in the mercantile section to your choice of meats in the butcher's market behind the grocery section, to nuts, bolts and firearms in the hardware section.
People often said, if you need it they have it in Cook Brothers.
The building was bought at the estate auction by Mary Sue Fletcher Alston, Grandaughter of Henry Anderson Cook and left to her children, Steve and Gayle Alston. With the work and talent of Steve's wife, Jan, the original Cook Brothers Store has been transformed into the recently opened Cook Store.
